Greig Craft from AIP Foundation advocates for quality motorcycle helmet use at the Mexican Senate

The session, organized by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) Mexico and the Mexico National Helmet Coalition, brought together legislators and federal agencies.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico – August 22, 2025

The Senate of the Republic of Mexico hosted a special presentation titled “Safety that saves lives: innovation and affordability of certified helmets,” led by Greig Craft, President and Founder of AIP Foundation.

The session, organized by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) Mexico and the Mexico National Helmet Coalition, brought together legislators and federal agencies such as Sedatu – Secretariat for Agrarian, Land and Urban Development, the Secretariat of the Economy; international organizations such as the FIA Foundation; civil society organizations such as Bicitekas and the World Resources Institute Mexico (WRI Mexico); as well as representatives of the motorcycling community and companies committed to safety, including Coppel, Sears, Uber, and DiDi.

The Secretary of Mobility for the State of Mexico, Daniel Sibaja, highlighted Fundación Aleatica (Aleatica Foundation) as a strategic ally and emphasized the promotion of certified helmet use carried out by their campaign #NoTeHagas (#Don’tKidYourself) to save lives.

Likewise, Juan Bosco Marti Ascencio, Global Director of Institutional Affairs and Communications at Aleatica Foundation, mentioned their participation in the working groups of the National Strategy for Mobility and Road Safety, reaffirming their commitment to joining forces to promote safe mobility.

The objective of this trip to Mexico was to leverage Greig Craft’s visit to share his experience with key stakeholders from the public and private sectors regarding the implementation of a safe motorcycle helmet factory in Vietnam. His expertise was highly valuable in advancing the potential to replicate this type of initiative in Mexico, within the framework of the ongoing review of the Official Mexican Standard for motorcycle helmets (NOM-206).
