10,000 masks and gloves donated by Vietnamese social enterprise reaches impacted communities in Beirut
Protec, a Vietnamese social enterprise, recently announced the successful delivery of its donation of 10,000 quality medical masks and gloves to communities in need in Beirut, Lebanon.
The protective equipment reached frontline workers and staff at Abou Jaoude Hospital, located less than 10 km from the Port of Beirut—the site of the tragic August 4 explosion which killed nearly 200 people and heavily impacted the city’s infrastructure and ability to address COVID-19.
Mr. Jaoudat Hoyek, director of Abou Jaoude Hospital, expressed, “The donation of masks from Protec have come at a precious time. The frontline workers and staff at our hospital and many others throughout Beirut have been mobilized in response to the pressing public health needs of our community. We are extremely grateful that our team will have access to more of the protective equipment they need to stay safe while taking care of their patients.”
The donation was made possible with support from the Honorary Consul of Lebanon and CEVA Logistics.
Protec has produced quality helmets for road users since 2000 and responded to the COVID-19 crisis in recent months by re-purposing part of its factory in Vietnam to manufacture personal protective equipment. The enterprise employs a significant number of people with physical disabilities, with the aim of promoting a more socially inclusive workforce in Vietnam.
The recent mask production initiative represents an expansion of the enterprise’s long-standing mission to save lives by providing access to quality equipment.
